Sweet Children

I work in Primary (Sunday School for children ages 3-11) at church. Our Presidency was called in August and we had the Primary Program in September. Needless to say, we didn't feel very qualified or prepared to have the Program so soon but we went with it.

Anyway the program was last Sunday. It turned out so well - it was such a relief. Then on Monday one of the seven year old girls made a picture/note for me and brought me cookies. It was so sweet. She thanked me for making Primary fun for her. I loved it. Her mom told me that it was all the daughters doing. Anyway what a sweetie!!

The end is coming . . . I hope :~]

We are in over a month and counting since our family came down with the Nasty Parasite that is afflicting Utah's pools. The last week in August is when we first got sick. There was a short time about two weeks ago that I thought we were in the clear. Then it finally struck me. Last week I came down with all of the symptoms of the bug. The same day Hailey came down with a fever and terrible cough. By the end of the week the two little girls had the cold symptoms as well.

Luckily Hailey and I are better now but yesterday I had to take Savvy into the Dr. because she had kept me up half of the night with sore ears. She had infections in both ears. Poor thing!

While we were at the Doctor a neighbor was there also and she mentioned that their family had had strep. All I could think was great . . . if strep is going around someone in our family will come down with it!!

I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will just walk right past our house and leave us alone. We've had enough!

Life is Funny

Tonight I went out to dinner with a group of my friends. It was so fun to see them because I don't see them very often now that I have moved less than one mile away. It is crazy simple things can change your life so much.

The waiter tonight was lacking in judgement. He did a few really unsanitary things. I ordered a salad and as he is setting the plate in front of me there is a fly sitting on top of it. . . . so I told him there was a fly on it. He said, "Oh" and then proceeds to try and pick the fly out of my salad. So now his fingers are in my salad and the fly isn't flying away but falling deeper into the salad. I had to tell him that maybe I should just get a new salad. It seemed as if he was trying to get rid of the fly so that he could just let me keep the salad. When he brought the new salad I had to wonder if he had simply scraped the top layer off of the salad.

A little later he is filling up my friends water and it starts to overfill. - You know how the ice shifts in the pitcher and then it dumps - well this is what happened. So he picks up my friends glass (that she has been drinking out of) and dumps part of it back into the pitcher. Then he proceeds to the next person to fill up their cup! I think he needs to retake the food handlers permit class!!

I thought we were finally healthy . . . but I was wrong. There is this nasty parasite going around and we caught it.

My oldest has been sick the longest and I know how contagious this is so we have been VERY cautious so we don't pass this around. Thursday night was the last time anyone had any episodes so by Sunday I thought I was safe to take the family to church. Then we went to my parents for the holiday - then Monday morning Jacob got sick - really sick! That night Danny got sick again. We are just starting the beginning of the third week of school and Danny missed the entire second week and we are starting in on the third.

The Doctor is having us take labs and has given us a prescription for this anti-parasitic medicine. Which he said is very expensive so if we have to treat all of the kids it will be spendy. I am hoping the end of this thing is in sight!!

Furniture

I started a furniture store last summer and am in the process of taking it to the Internet. It is exciting to think about the possibilities. I am a stay at home mom of six kids but am always looking for something to do on the side during nap time, etc.

Anyway, last summer I was looking for some furniture and decided to that maybe I should start selling furniture instead of buying it from other people. It has been fun and so far I have been able to do most of the work from home or bring my kids along with me to meet customers.

We are taking it to the Internet and I am hoping that we can generate enough revenue for my husband to start pursuing this full time as well.

Sick, sick, sick

We have had sick kids since last Sunday! They went to bed Saturday night all healthy and by the time 9AM rolled around for church 4 out of my 6 kids had thrown-up. My oldest missed the entire week of school. Everytime we think he is getting better he has another attack. I have talked to the Doctor and this is either the flu or this parasite that has been infecting all of the public pools. They told me to give it a week before they ran any test so we will see. Today has been a lot better so maybe we are finally finished. Here's crossing my fingers.

Decorating Amber's room

A few weeks ago my sis-in-law Cortney was over and she asked me if she could see Amber's room ( I have been talking about decorating plans for about a year). Anyway, I told her that I hadn't actually done anything to it but had merely talked big for quite awhile. So the next day I got to work.

We painted the bottom a seafoam blue and I was just going to paint he top of the room chocolate brown. Then Amber and I got to talking and I suggested strips and she suggested dots so we did a mixture and it turned out adorable.

We still have a lot of work to do. The shelf needs supports so that we can put pictures, books and nic-nacs up there. I also need to paint it the right color of white.

I ordered her a new dresser and nightstands and then I am going to save up for a new bed. We are so excited.

These four frames are going to be hung on the wall. Two of them are cork boards to hang pictures on and the other two are magnet boards.

In the spirit of keeping better in touch I thought that I would send our 1st day of school pictures for all to see. Hailey started Kindergarten today and thought that she looked (and I quote) like a "fashion star".

The other kids all started last week. Everyone is loving their new school with the exception of Danny and we are telling him to give it some time.

Danny did start tackle football this year which he is loving. He also is taking piano and seems to be a natural - he has asked for a while to take violin which he will also be starting soon through the schools orchestra.

Amber of course loves school. She wrote a 5-page book report on Abraham Lincoln the other day just for fun. She informed me she doesn't like dance and has requested to sign up for gymnastics - which I keep forgetting to do. Amber also is taking piano.

Jacob is thrilled that our old next door neighbor is in his class. He says he is making new friends every day at recess through playing soccer. Every time he mentions a new kids name - he tells me they play soccer with him. He has requested soccer (I am quoting again) so that he can practice his moves for recess. Jake started piano this past summer and has enjoyed it so far.

Hailey loved her first day of Kindergarten. She came off of the bus holding hands with a girl in our neighborhood who she didn't really know until today. She informed me that her and Josie were the best ones in the class and then she told me all of the reasons why. Hailey asked to take clap (tap) class b/c she has been practicing on our kitchen floor and has become really good at it ( so she says) She is also signed up for a jazz class.

Savvy got some new glasses. We are going to do preschool at home. She is also signed up for her first dance class.

Kaitlyn loves to have preschool at home with Savvy
and is learning what sounds the letters make.
